Handle Map Locations

INSIDE offers a comprehensive map solution with two components: a building map and a city map.

Building Map

A map solution for indoor locations with the following features:

  • area with one or more buildings
  • buildings with one or more floors (system internally called maps)
  • floors with booth and other points of interest (system internally called tdom-locations)
  • interactive labels with links to related profile pages of an exhibitor, event or similar
  • pathfinder with turn by turn navigation from one tom-loc to another
  • display the location within a profile page of an exhibitor, event or similar
  • "Show on Map" button that flies to the location in the map from within a profile-page

You can edit all building map data using the "Map Editor" option in the CMS Admin menu.

City Map

A map solution for outdoor locations with the following features:

  • uses Apple Maps on iOS and Google Maps on Android and Web
  • shows positions with colored needles (system internally called geo-locations)
  • displays the user's current position
  • display the location within a profile page of an exhibitor, event or similar
  • "Show on Map" button that displays the location from within a profile-page

Map Locations when Importing Data

For offering "Show on Map" functionality the data must be related to valid locations (tom-locs or geo-locs) by referencing the Inside-ID or remote-ID.

If you are not able to provide the reference ID you have two options:

  1. Relate the profiles to the locations manually in the CMS after import
  2. Not use system-locations but only display a locations string and dispense on "Show on map" functionality. For this option >>> LS location fallback explanation text comes here<<<<
